Recording and Submitting Your Demo Videos

How to record and share your assignment demos using free screen recording tools

Some assignments in the AI Agents & Workflow Automation program require you to submit a short demo video showing your automation workflow in action.

This guide explains how to record your screen and share the video using free tools.

What Your Demo Video Should Include

The specific requirements for your video (such as length, what to demonstrate, or whether narration is required) will be outlined in the assignment instructions in Canvas.

In general, your video should:

• Clearly show your screen as you walk through your project or workflow
• Demonstrate the key functionality of what you built
• Include narration or explanation of what is happening on screen
• Highlight the final result or outcome

Always review the assignment instructions in Canvas to confirm the exact video requirements before recording.

Recommended Tool: Loom (Free)

We recommend using Loom because it is free and easy to share.

Loom allows you to:

  • Record your screen

  • Narrate your workflow

  • Generate a shareable video link

Note: The free version of Loom limits recordings to 5 minutes per video, which aligns with most demo video requirements for assignments in this program.

If your assignment requires a longer recording, you can either:

  • Record multiple short videos

  • Use an alternative screen recording tool such as Zoom or QuickTime

Step 1: Create a Free Loom Account

Go to:

https://www.loom.com

Sign up using your email or Google account.

Step 2: Install the Loom Extension

Install Loom for your browser:

https://www.loom.com/download

Once installed, you will see a Loom icon in your browser toolbar.

Step 3: Record Your Screen

  1. Click the Loom icon

  2. Choose Screen + Camera or Screen Only

  3. Select the screen you want to record

  4. Click Start Recording

Walk through your workflow and explain what you are demonstrating.

Step 4: Finish Recording

Click Stop Recording when finished.

Loom will automatically upload your video and generate a shareable link.

Step 5: Share the Video

Copy the Loom video link and submit it with your assignment.

Make sure the video is set to Anyone with the link can view.

Alternative Recording Options

If you prefer not to use Loom, you can use other free tools.

Zoom

Start a meeting with yourself and record your screen.

When finished, upload the video to:

  • YouTube (Unlisted)

  • Google Drive

Then share the link.

QuickTime (Mac Only)

Mac users can record their screen using QuickTime.

  1. Open QuickTime Player

  2. Click File → New Screen Recording

  3. Record your screen and narration

Upload the video to YouTube (Unlisted) or Google Drive.

Tips for Recording a Good Demo

Keep your video under 5 minutes unless the assignment specifies otherwise.

Before recording:

• Test your workflow
• Close unnecessary tabs
• Prepare the trigger event

While recording:

• Explain what you are doing clearly
• Show the trigger and output
• Demonstrate any error handling or fallback logic

Submitting Your Video

Some assignments will ask for:

• A video link
• Screenshots of your workflow
• Documentation of your Zap

Submit the video link along with the rest of your assignment materials in Canvas.

Common Issues

The instructor cannot view the video

Make sure the video is set to:

Anyone with the link can view

The video file is too large

Uploading the video to Loom or YouTube avoids file size issues.
