Weekly Digest 12/10

Hey there!

Happy Tuesday! We hope your weeks are off to a great start. There are only a few weeks left in 2024 and while some folks are winding down, now is the time to gear up for 2025. S

Here are a few announcements and reminders to get the party started this week:

Guest Speaker TODAY

For this guest speaker discussion this week, we have Divy Nayyar joining us. Divy has an educational background in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Networking, which he has harnessed in multiple roles, including technical support, technical sales, and business development. With many years of experience in the tech industry, I’m excited for Divy to share his journey and actionable job search tips with us. Divy is passionate about the tech career services space which makes this a valuable event for folks from all programs!

Join us tonight at 6:00 pm EST via Zoom!

Discord Updates

We are excited to introduce dedicated Career Services channels for each of our programs: software engineering, data analytics, UI/UX design, and digital marketing.
These channels are designed to assist you in your career journey with tailored resources, advice, and support. It's also a space to:

  • Ask questions
  • Connect with other learners and alumni
  • Share your experiences
  • Contribute to discussions

If you don't see these new channels in the left sidebar under "Career Services + Upright Outcomes", here is a short video with instructions on how to find and add them.

Along with the introduction of these channels, you will notice that we are archiving a couple of our less-used channels. The #jobs-and-career and #networking-events channels have both had "archive" added to their channel names and will no longer be updated by our team. Though they are archived, they will not be deleted for three months in case folks would like to reference previous threads. Moving forward, any information that would have been shared in either of these channels will live in #career-services-announcements, #general-career-services or program-specific channels.

All other channels will remain the same for now, but we are always open to feedback. Feel free to share suggestions at any time in our Career Services Suggestion Box, available in the Resource Hub

Reminder: New Resume Templates

Taryn recently worked with our instructors to revamp our resume templates and we now have four templates per program. They are available as templates in Prentus and in the Career Services Help Center.
