What Do I Do If I Need to Miss a Live Class Session?

We understand that life happens, and there may be times when you need to miss a live class session. However, it's essential to communicate proactively and follow the proper procedures to ensure that your absence is excused and doesn't affect your standing in the program.

Steps to Follow if You Need to Miss a Class:

  1. Notify Your Instructional Staff in Advance:

    • If you know you’ll need to miss a class, reach out to your instructor or teaching assistant (TA) via Discord at least one hour before the start of the session.
    • This proactive communication is key to ensuring your absence is recorded as excused.
  2. Excused vs. Unexcused Absences:

    • If you notify your instructional staff ahead of time, your absence will be marked as excused.
    • Failure to inform your instructor or TA before class will result in your absence being marked as unexcused.
  3. Attendance Policy:

    • You are allowed to miss up to two program meetings with prior approval.
    • If you miss three or more program meetings without advance approval, you may be withdrawn from the program. Please consult the Withdrawal Policy in your enrollment agreement and code of conduct for additional details.

Why This Matters:

Missing class can lead to falling behind on crucial material, which can be challenging to make up. By missing too many sessions, you risk not only impacting your learning but also your overall standing in the program. To avoid this, it's essential to communicate with your instructional team ahead of time.

If you have any concerns about attending live sessions, reach out to your TA or instructor for support and guidance. We're here to help you stay on track!
