Active participation is a key part of the learning experience at Upright Education. In our bootcamps, we want to ensure that everyone is fully engaged and making the most of each session. Here’s what you need to know about our expectations.
Participation Expectations
To foster an interactive and collaborative learning environment, all participants are required to have their cameras on and actively participate during all program sessions. Here are some of the ways you can engage during sessions:
- Verbally participate in discussions or ask questions
- Utilize Zoom reactions (such as raising your hand or thumbs up) to interact with the group
- Contribute to assignments during the session
Being visible and engaged helps you stay connected with your instructors and classmates, and it ensures that you’re fully absorbing the material being presented.
What if I Need to Turn My Camera Off?
We understand that there may be moments when you need to turn your camera off for a short period, such as for restroom breaks or personal emergencies. This is completely understandable, but we ask that you communicate these situations with your instructor or the meeting host so they are aware of why you’re temporarily stepping away from the session.
However, please note that if you have your camera off for an extended period without prior notice or communication, this could be counted as an absence. To avoid any confusion, always try to notify your instructor in advance if you anticipate needing to turn your camera off for a longer time.
Why Active Participation Matters
Staying engaged during class helps reinforce the material, makes the learning experience more enjoyable, and ensures you don’t miss out on important discussions. By turning your camera on, participating verbally, and contributing to assignments, you’re making the most of the time you spend in the bootcamp.
How to Communicate
If you need to step away from the camera or you’re facing a situation where you can’t participate fully, it’s best to communicate directly with your instructor or meeting host through a direct message, either on zoom or Discord. Letting them know about your situation ahead of time allows them to understand your needs and make accommodations if necessary.
Keep the Conversation Going
If you ever have questions or concerns about your participation, feel free to reach out to your instructors or the Learner Success Team. We’re here to support you and help you stay on track throughout your learning journey.
By staying connected and communicating clearly, you’ll have a more successful and rewarding experience in the program!
