Make the Most of Your Weekly Live Session: Why Showing Up on Time Matters

In your 6-week AI certificate course, you only get one hour of live instruction each week. That means every minute counts. Showing up on time, ready to learn, and fully engaged isn’t just important—it’s essential.

Why Being On Time Matters

Limited Live Time, Big Impact
With just one hour of live class per week, that time is designed to maximize your understanding, answer your questions, and connect with your instructor and peers. Arriving late means you risk missing key explanations or context that won't be repeated—and catching up on your own can be tough.

Start Strong, Stay Focused
Logging in on time helps you enter class with a clear head and a sense of focus. It also helps set the tone for your learning experience and ensures you're not scrambling to follow along while others are already engaged.

Your Presence Affects the Group
Because there’s so little live instruction, every learner’s participation matters. Tardiness can be disruptive to the group’s flow and the instructor’s plan. When everyone shows up on time, the full hour is used effectively for meaningful interaction and collaboration.

Tardiness and Attendance Expectations

  • Up to 5 minutes late is understandable—we get that life happens.

  • 10 minutes late or more will be marked as tardy.

  • Three tardies = one unexcused absence.

  • Missing more than 1 hour (e.g., skipping class) is considered an absence.

  • Repeated tardiness can affect your standing in the program and your ability to succeed.

Tips to Help You Be On Time and Ready to Rock

  • Set Calendar Alerts: Add your weekly session to your calendar and set a reminder 15–30 minutes before.

  • Log In Early: Give yourself a buffer to troubleshoot any technical issues and settle in.

  • Come Prepared: Review the week’s materials and bring your questions to make the most of your time.

  • Communicate: If something unavoidable comes up, let your instructor know ahead of time via Discord.

Bottom line: In a program where you only have one live hour each week, being on time isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s a key part of your success. Respect your time, your peers, and your learning journey by showing up ready to engage from the very first minute. You've got this!
