What Software Do I Need to Install for My Bootcamp?
Please ensure you have the latest version of the following software installed on your device. We’ll also go over installation during orientation to make sure everything is set up correctly.
General Software for All Bootcamps:
- Zoom: Used for live sessions and workshops. Download the application directly to your computer for easy access!
- Discord: Our main communication platform for announcements, discussions, and support with your cohort, instructional staff and Career Services. Download this application directly to your computer for easy access during live sessions, and turn notifications for your cohort channel on, to ensure you don't miss any important updates!
- Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox: A reliable web browser for accessing course content and online tools.
Software Development Bootcamp (SDB):
In addition to the general software above, please install the following:
- Visual Studio Code: A code editor for writing and editing code.
- Node.js (version 18.18 or higher): A JavaScript runtime used for building and running applications.
- Git: A version control system used to manage and track code changes.
- Installfest: This is a key part of your setup that will walk you through getting all of the necessary software installed and configured for the program.
Data Analytics Bootcamp (DAB):
In addition to the general software above, you’ll have specific software to install for your data analytics work. Refer to the Quick Install Instructions provided for your program:

For more detailed instructions, including step-by-step videos and images, check out the Software Installation Instructions in your prep work. These provide greater context about your tools and how you’ll use them throughout the bootcamp.
Cybersecurity Bootcamp (CSB):
- Git
- Python
- TryHackMe Account Setup
- Your labs will be hosted on TryHackMe, a leading cybersecurity training platform.
- To sign up:
- Go to tryhackme.com
- Sign up for a free account using your bootcamp email address
- Verify your email and log in
- During orientation, you will receive access codes and invites to specific bootcamp learning paths and private rooms.
